Responding

You have mastered the ability to ignore the obvious. You have convinced yourself, and some of those around you, that your life is no different than theirs. You've worn the mask for so long that you have forgotten it's not the real you. You cling to that mask because it allows you to continue the behavior that requires you to wear it in the first place. If you admit you have heard the call to recovery, you challenge the state of denial that you have built your existence upon. If you concede your denial, you may have to respond to the truth of it.
